HeatLens turns your PC power usage into heat measurements. Every computer hardware component generates heat while it runs. This application calculates how much energy your computer uses and converts that data into measurable heat output.
You can see your total room heat contribution in BTU per hour. This tool helps you understand your home environment better. It tracks your current session heat and provides estimates for airflow needs to keep your room comfortable.
Follow these steps to set up HeatLens on your Windows computer:
The program will automatically detect your hardware sensors on startup. Ensure you have administrator rights if the program asks for permission to read sensor data.
HeatLens works on most modern Windows systems. We recommend a version of Windows 10 or 11 for the best results. The application requires basic hardware monitoring support to read sensor data from your motherboard, processor, and graphics card.
The software interacts with your motherboard sensors to pull power consumption metrics. It processes these numbers through a standard physical formula to determine heat output. Since electricity consumption is directly linked to heat release, the numbers provide a reliable estimate of your PC's thermal impact on your workspace.
The tool refreshes every few seconds. You will see fluctuations as your computer handles different tasks. Gaming or video editing will cause the wattage numbers to rise, which results in higher BTU counts.
HeatLens is open source. The code is available for anyone to review. We do not collect your data, send information to servers, or track your activity. Your hardware sensors communicate only with the local application running on your computer.
